BRIDGING THESE TRUTHS
---
‘Bridging these Truths’ was a divinely inspired creation. It contains a lot of symbolism and messages of CHANGE and HOPE in America. It was masterfully Illustrated by award-winning illustrator Jay Montgomery from the creative vision of Brenda Stanley. It is a history lesson about America as well as an awe-inspiring message about all of us being able to pursue our individual dreams in America and achieve them - President Barack Obama. We all came to America by some means, via the Mayflower and other ships, planes, and involuntarily via slave ships. Yet, all of us, black and white, are a part of this history; from the Declaration of Independence to the Inauguration of America’s 44th president. Barack Obama stands today as the first elected black president of the United States of America because of the ideas of America’s ‘Founding Fathers’ made true for women and all Americans by the participants of the Women’s Suffrage Movement and the Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Rights Movement led by King was able to bring HOPE and CHANGE to her African American citizens as well as evoke moral CHANGE in America by awakening the conscience and consciousness of this nation and holding her accountable to the profound truths of her own doctrines. The Truths of the Declaration of Independence; which influenced the Emancipation Proclamation, and the Truths of the Constitution of The United States of America were the challenge King presented. America’s greatness would be based on her ability to give freedom, justice, and equality to all of her citizens regardless of their race, color, creed, culture, class, gender or religion. Obama, like King, elevates our interrelatedness and interconnectedness as human beings. “Whatever affects one, affects all. . .” Dr. King. King is at the center of the bridge because it was King, a Dreamer, who ‘rightly’ interpreted, connected and amplified these Truths. All Americans are a part of King’s Dream because we are all a part of those preceding Truths. We are diverse, and at the same time one people with common needs, dreams, and goals. America today holds a rich diversity of people. In honor of the efforts of Dr. King, it is evident in this nation today, that it was the freedoms and opportunity to “pursue our individual dreams” in America and the content of a person’s character (brilliant, competent, genuine, unifying, and inclusive) that won this historical election. Both dreamers united us on this common interlocking unalienable natural truth: “We are one People.” We are offering this masterpiece of American History to celebrate the spirit of America. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the King Center and projects to teach our children. This poster was recently officially approved and given permission by The King Center to use the quotes and likenesses of Dr. King.
